BOOK TWENTY ONE IN THE DALZIEL AND PASCOE SERIES
He may have been in a coma but it would take an act of God to put Superintendent 'Fat' Andy Dalziel down for good. In the meantime, He'll settle for a few weeks' bed-rest.
Sandytown, a pleasant seaside resort devoted to healing, seems just the ticket. And when a fellow newcomer appears in the shapely form of psychologist Charlotte Heywood, Dalziel develops an unexpected passion for alternative therapy.
But Sandytown's warring landowners have grandiose plans for the resort. One of them has to go and when one of them does, in spectacularly gruesome fashion, DCI Peter Pascoe is called in to investigate - with Dalziel and Charlotte providing unwelcome support. And Pascoesoon finds dark forces at work in a place where holistic remedies are no match for the oldest cure of all...
"A characteristically funny, perceptive and deftly plotted tale." MAIL ON SUNDAY.

When we last heard from Superintendent Dalziel (aka The Fat Man), he had suffered serious injuries from a terrorist bomb blast. Now he's convalescing in Sandytown, a seaside resort. But a murder is committed, and DCI Peter Pascoe is called in to investigate. The Fat Man, though officially off duty, finds a way to involve himself in the case. Jonathan Keeble voices Dalziel with a deep, gravelly voice and a thick Yorkshire accent. He is less successful with the other voices, especially the female characters--one of which, Charlotte Heywood, plays a prominent part through emails to her sister. Still, Keeble delivers the humorous parts perfectly, and the tone and tempo match the writing. Fans of the series will especially enjoy this. S.S.R. (c) AudioFile 2009, Portland, Maine
